QUALIFICATIONS?

Paul Byford is a member of more than one Professional Body. He is an accredited member of the Federation Of Drug and Alcohol Professionals (FDAP) and is also an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) accred. He also has a Bachelor of Science BSc (Hons) Degree in Addictions Counselling awarded by the University of Bath. He studied at the Centre for Addiction Treatment Studies( run by the charity Action on Addiction of which HRH The Duchess of Cambridge is a Patron) and has worked at some of the most respected Residential Treatment Centres in the Country. He is still employed within the Industry.

CONCESSIONS?

There is a Concessionary rate for those on low income and for students. This is set at a discount of 25% off the standard fee.


PAYMENT?

Payment is usually taken at the beginning of each Therapy session. There is a discount for a 6 week Block Payment in advance. This method is advised once a relationship has built up with your counsellor and you feel that the sessions are of benefit. Payments can be taken by PayPal or by BACS transfer.


HOW OFTEN SHOULD I COME TO THERAPY?

Once a week or at least once a fortnight is standard for good therapeutic work to be undertaken which can lead to steady progress and an improved quality of life.


CAN MY COUNSELLOR TALK TO ME OUTSIDE THERAPY HOURS?

Your Therapist is bound by Ethical Practise. It is advisable to seek other help and not to get too reliant on your Counsellor. Please contact either your GP, the Samaritans or a self Help Group such as AA (Alcoholics Anonymous)


CONFIDENTIALITY?

All sessions are confidential except in extreme cases when you may become a danger to yourself or others or in contravention of the Childrens act or Terrorism Act (Ethical Framework for Good Practise in Counselling and Psychotherapy)

HOW LONG SHOULD THE COUNSELLING LAST?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy(CBT) is designed to be a short duration Therapy of 8-10 sessions. Although an eclectic approach may be of more benefit. It is really up to the individual and what changes have been made so that he/she feels better about themselves.
In the event of positive outcome Paul can provide continued expertise in Relapse Prevention and Aftercare.
